The mullein (Verbascum thapsus) is a member of the marram family (Scrophulariaceae) and mainly thrives in dune and chalk areas, where it is quite common. This plant is rare to find elsewhere in the Netherlands.
The flowers of the mullein are yellow and have a diameter of 1.5–3 cm. They consist of five connate petals, five sepals and five stamens, three of which are covered with yellow or white hairs. The flowers grow in dense spikes and bloom from July to autumn. An adult plant can reach a height of more than two meters.

Mallow (Malva) is a genus of herbaceous plants in the Malvaceae family. It comprises approximately thirty species found in temperate, subtropical, and tropical regions of Africa and Eurasia.
The flowers and leaves of mallow are highly recognizable and traditionally valued in various cultures. The plant produces mucilaginous substances, which were historically mentioned in botanical and folklore sources.
The fruit of the mallow is a schizocarp and owes its name to its flat, rounded shape, which resembles a small cheese. This fruit contains contiguous seeds and is a characteristic botanical element of the genus.

The long sundew (Drosera longifolia) is a perennial carnivorous plant belonging to the sundew family (Droseraceae).
The plant grows to a height of 5-20 cm and forms a rosette of leaves. The leaves have long stems and are upright, oblong to lanceolate, with the widest point above the center. They are covered with numerous red, sticky tentacles containing glandular tissue. These tentacles catch small insects such as Simuliidae. Once an insect touches the tentacles, the leaf coils around the insect and secretes digestive enzymes. The released nutrients, including nitrogen, are absorbed by the plant.

Ashwagandha, officially known as Withania somnifera, is a plant that has been used for centuries in the Ayurvedic tradition of India. Within this traditional teaching, ashwagandha is referred to as a rasayana, a term used in Ayurveda for herbs with special cultural and historical significance.
The plant belongs to the Magnoliophyta family and is also known as Indian ginseng and winter cherry. The root of the plant is traditionally used most often.
The name ashwagandha literally means "horse scent," a reference to the characteristic, earthy aroma of the fresh root.

Eucalyptus belongs to the myrtle family (Myrtaceae) and is native to Australia and adjacent areas. A few specimens were brought to Europe by Joseph Banks during Captain Cook's expedition.
In Europe, eucalyptus is primarily planted in the Mediterranean region. Some species can also grow on the west coast of England and Scotland, although only a few are winter-hardy.
Early oil is extracted from the leaves of several eucalyptus species. The best-known species for this purpose are Eucalyptus globulus and Eucalyptus odorata.

Damiana (Turnera diffusa) is a shrub native to southern Texas, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. The plant belongs to the Passifloraceae family and is known for its aromatic leaves.
In Mexico and other parts of Latin America, damiana has been used for centuries in culinary and cultural traditions. The leaves are made into herbal teas and sometimes smoked, among other things. Damiana is also a traditional ingredient in Mexican liqueurs and is sometimes used in cocktails, such as margaritas, where it complements the flavor or replaces part of the liqueur.
Damiana leaves naturally contain various plant compounds, such as beta-sitosterol, arbutin, and various alkaloids.

The blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum L.) is a plant native to Northern Asia, Northern Europe, and Central Europe. The name "nigrum" refers to the dark color of the berries, while "ribes" refers to the berries themselves.
The blackcurrant thrives in moist, nutrient-rich soil and is resistant to cold and humidity. It is common in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Various parts of the plant are traditionally used, including the berries, seeds, and leaves. The berries contain vitamins and minerals, while the leaves are rich in natural plant compounds such as bioflavonoids, anthocyanins, and tannins. The use of blackcurrant leaf (Folium Ribis nigri) has a long history in culinary and traditional applications.

Woddruff Sweet (Galium aparine) belongs to the star-leaved family (Rubiaceae). This plant is known for its ability to cling to objects it comes into contact with, thanks to the numerous hooks on both the stem and fruits. This causes plants and fruits to get caught in the fur of animals, resulting in widespread dispersal over great distances.
Cleaver leaves are widest above the middle and have one central vein. They grow together in whorls of seven. These leaves also have hooks, albeit less than the rest of the plant. The stem is thickened at the tips.

Pau d’arco (Tabebuia avellanedae) is a tree native to the Amazon region. Traditionally, the inner layer of the bark is primarily used. This bark has a long history within various cultures in South America.
Pau d’arco bark naturally contains various plant compounds, including flavonoids and quinones. More than twenty different quinone compounds have been identified in the bark, including lapachol and beta-lapachone. These compounds contribute to the characteristic composition of pau d’arco.
Pau d’arco is traditionally made into tea or other herbal preparations and is valued for its natural origins and rich plant profile.
